Used auto eraser on parts of an image which is now transparent.
Tool - Lasso - Extract selection to clipboard.
Paste in another program but now the transparency is filled with white.
How would I keep the transparency ?

Re: Extract selection
I have transparency when I paste into Photoline using Ctrl-E
Does that other Application support transparency?
Seems that MS-Paint does not!

Re: Extract selection
I am using macOS.
The transparency is retained i.e. if I paste the image in any Affinity program. It is not retained in Scribus or Pages.
So my guess is that it depends on the target application, which obviously needs to »understand« the transparency.
But you can save your image or snippet (-> paste as document in PL) in the PNG format and place the saved PNG in any application. Based on your saving options in PL (-> make sure you deselect the option »Reduce Colors«), PNG retains all image information and transparency.
PNG is a robust and universal image format to exchange images between macOS and *nix systems. I don't know if Windows will handle the PNG format as well in all applications. The file size i.e. for 16/48 bit images is almost identical to the 16/48 bit TIFF format, so there is no reason to not use PNG.

Re: Extract selection
Thanks for the info.
It did work for me in Affinity Photo.
Wanted to do a comparison with my old version of PS ... but it does not keep the transparency.
