Picture catalog - placement + extras

Hi,
I use the picture catalog several times a week. Great for adjusting the sizes of different images, making simple photo albums, putting together many different posters from my customers to print them in one time or making a catalog.
However I could use a few more functionalities:
- importing the images as placeholders for easier changes later on
- when setting the position, be able to centre the image on a page (now I make a smaller page and later enlarge the document while centering the image)
- use actions on import, so I don't have to adjust all imported images one by one or adjust every single image before.
These extra functions would speed up the use of the picture catalog by a factor of perhaps for me.
